I try to pace my posts this time of year, but inevitably, I end up doing a Christmas Eve blog dump. Read more…
Wait! Where did all the Christmas cookies go?! A few weeks ago, I got a very special request to send ukulele cookies up to New Hampshire. Read more…
I am still playing around with my new airbrush. For my final set of 2014 Halloween cookies, I used it to create a neat antique effect. Read more…
A few weeks ago, two of my favorite people in DC asked me to make cookies for their end of summer party. The best part–“end of summer” was just a ruse. They planned to announce their pregnancy and wanted to use cookies as part of their big announcement. What an honor! Read more…
This week I am making my annual summer visit to my home state, New Hampshire. I love New Hampshire in the summer. When I think back on my childhood, what I remember is beautiful, long summers (I tend to block out the even longer–and much more painful–New Hampshire winters.) Read more…
I have been a bad blogger. I have been tied up with work and renovations. I found time to make a few cookies in between, but failed to post them. I actually made Valentine cookies… and have finally decided to post them 1 day short of two months later. Read more…

In any case, I didn’t have room for cookie cutters and didn’t really see the need; I was satisfied to pipe my own designs onto circles. Read more…
Two of the kindest, smartest, fanciest, and most endearing people I know got married last weekend. Their wedding was the best possible combination of Jewish-meets-hippie-meets-hipster meets-foodie-meets-liberal DC.
First, I have to thank my colleague Lester for giving me the title for this post. In an email exchange timestamped 3 am, he questioned the legitimacy of “pollster by day.” It is true; lately I have been a pollster by day and night and those dark quiet hours in between. Read more…
The talking heads will spend the weekend debating the sequester, crisis governance, and partisan gridlock. But I am thinking about cherry blossoms and warm weather. I am sick of winter hats, wool coats, and grey skies. I want to arrive home before dark. I want to wear sandals and white pants. Read more…
