A month ago, I knew nothing about Paw Patrol. It is apparently a very big deal for kids of a certain age (and their parents.) A friend asked me to make Paw Patrol cookies for her daughter’s 3d birthday. Of course, I could not resist (she is a seriously great kid and her parents aren’t bad either.) When I was pregnant people kept asking me if belly button had popped. I kept repeating that it was not a turkey timer. Eventually, we started calling the baby “turkey.” It stuck. He is almost 6 months old and we still call him Turkey. Fast forward to Thanksgiving and the nickname has become hilarious. My amazing niece, Mari, will be celebrating her third birthday next month. She LOVES animals, especially mice. Her favorite mouse is Mouse Cookie. I cannot wait to see her face when she sees Mouse Cookie on a cookie.

On New Year’s Eve, I resolved to make fewer cookies in 2014. I blew it on day two. It’s not that I don’t love cookie-ing; I’m just worried that it has become my thing. As in the thing I do.
Seeing as I couldn’t not make cookies for a whole week, it probably actually is my thing and resistance is pointless. And if I’m going to do my thing, I want to do it well. New resolution: make good cookies in 2014.

My beautiful friend, Jenn, is due in March. Her shower was this weekend in Massachusetts. As nice as it would have been to escape the inauguration invasion… we stayed here and sent the cookies there.
