Mermaid birthday!

My feisty little niece turns 5 in 2 weeks.  She loves to dance and make up silly songs.  She loves to play with dolls and dress up in sparkly clothes.  She loves to travel and see new things.  And she really loves mermaids.  And I love her, so I made mermaid cookies to celebrate her big day. Paw Patrol!

A month ago, I knew nothing about Paw Patrol.  It is apparently a very big deal for kids of a certain age (and their parents.)  A friend asked me to make Paw Patrol cookies for her daughter’s 3d birthday.  Of course, I could not resist (she is a seriously great kid and her parents aren’t bad either.)  When word got around that I was making these cookies, I was suddenly in the middle of a lot of Paw Patrol conversations.   Read more…

Seeing as I couldn’t not make cookies for a whole week, it probably actually is my thing and resistance is pointless.  And if I’m going to do my thing, I want to do it well.  New resolution: make good cookies in 2014.

happy birthday, laura!

Each member of my team gets cookies for his/her birthday.  Laura is the one person in my office who prefers sugar cookies over all others.  Unfortunately, with my own book coming out, Stan’s book on its way to the publisher, and our normal survey work, I did not spend much time on these.  Thankfully, Laura cares more about taste than appearance.
