I love Superbowl Sunday. Superbowl Sunday is the one day of the year that I have all to myself. No lines at the grocery store! No traffic on the roads! And best of all: empty kitchen to bake cookies!
In honor of Superbowl Sunday, I am previewing round 1 of my 2015 Valentine cookies. I got the idea while I was watching my brother play cribbage. They are not the most romantic batch, but I think the concept is a fun twist on traditional “heart” cookies.
These were pretty quick to make. The cookies themselves are fairly small (about 2.5 in. long) so I opted to paint rather than pipe (there is no way I could pipe such tiny details). I did all of the outlining with a fine tip food writer and then added the color (kind of like a coloring book.)
