My niece is turning 6 this weekend AND we are moving to our new house. So in the midst of packing, sorting, donating, and losing my mind, I took some time out to make a special set of birthday cookies. She’s my favorite girl and this occasion deserves a special treat. All of this had to happen before I packed up all of my cookie equipment, which was a total undertaking. I filled 3 large bankers boxes. The cookie cutters alone filled 1 box. We have lived in our house for 6 years, and in that time I have acquired way to much cookie crap. I have a large tupperware bin full of food coloring. I have cookie glitter, cookie pearls, sanding sugar, and sprinkles. I have cookie things I didn’t even know I had and other cookie things that I will probably never use. But they are moving with us to the new house because… you never know when you might need a set of food grade stamps, right?
My house chaos is the perfect backdrop for making cookies for my whirling dervish of a niece. She is spunky and funny. She is the Ramona Cleary of our family and I just love her so much.
