Last year, two of my favorite people in DC gave the world a very special Valentine, an adorable baby girl (you can see her baby announcement cookies here.) In her first year, she has already made the world a more joyful, loving place. So this year I made Valentine cookies in honor of her first birthday. While she is still waiting on a full set of teeth, I assume her parents will consume the cookies on her behalf.
I love these cookies, in part, because I finally got to make the houndstooth and herringbone cookies I have been wanting to make (and also dreading) since Christmas. I am still practicing my hand at these fabric patterns, but once I master these techniques, I will share a tutorial.
Oh, my other Valentine? He got cookies too. Just not nearly as… intricate. He did get to eat all of the cookies deemed not quite good enough for my one-year-old Valentine, so you can believe he has had enough sugar 🙂
