I am in the middle of a very special cookie project. Most of the cookies are in various stages of completion and are not nearly ready to share. However, these wet-on-wet loons, which took less than 20 minutes to make, are a fantastic preview.
I don’t make a lot of wet-on-wet cookies, but these loons have encouraged me to use the technique more often. The white dots and black lines melted perfectly into the base icing. For the detail on the underside and neck, I used a toothpick to drag the black base icing into the white.
I initially made two loons because I wanted a spare (just in case). But because they were so fool-proof, I ended up with two, and now they are just begging me to watch On Golden Pond. “Oh, Norman! The loons! The loons!”
